New Orleans is the sixth episode in the fourth season in the FX drama Better Things which was aired on April 2, 2020.
Synopsis[]
Sam travels to New Orleans to attend the wedding of her friend Manessh and his fiance Andrew. Sam accompanies them to their wedding brunch with their two families, but they are denied access because they do not meet the male dress code of wearing a high collared shirt. While Manessh and Andrew shop for new shirts, Sam runs into one of her exes with his new girlfriend, but they pretend not to know each other. At the wedding ceremony, Sam speaks with a woman who explains how much better her life is after moving to New Orleans. Sam again runs into her ex at the wedding as his girlfriend knows Andrew. The two finally explain that they know each other. Sam makes a toast and tells the story of how she met Manessh on a plane ride where the cockpit caught on fire and they had an emergency landing. Sam spends another day in New Orleans and explores the city and its cultures: she goes to a voodoo shop and drinks a potion; eats crawfish boils; and takes part in a second line parade. Afterwards, Sam visits a realtor and expresses interest in buying a home. At night, she attends a jazz club, where she meets her ex, but without his girlfriend and walk the streets together.
